How to Ranch School

Our first How To Ranch School webinar was a success and we loved connecting with so many amazing folks in our equine community from all across the country!

We are looking forward to the next on  Friday July 19, 9:00am-1:00pm PST

In this single day webinar, you will learn how to create and run your own successful Ranch School program!  This training offers a “business in a box” to equine professionals.  Whether you are a horse person wanting to break into the rapidly expanding field of equine assisted learning, an equine facilitator looking to expand your offerings, or a therapeutic riding center seeking to add non-riding programming, Ranch School is a tried and true model ready to be implemented in other locations.

The training will be recorded so if you cannot make this date (or aren't sure) you can register per usual.  All registrants will receive a Zoom link for the live webinar on July 19 as well as the recording afterwards.  We will offer another live webinar in October, exact date TBD.

"Ranch School has offered our children Alexandra and Ellie a profound connection with horses beyond just riding. They have developed a deep understanding and appreciation for these majestic animals' care and unique needs. The hands-on learning environment and creative projects have instilled confidence and resilience in them as young equestrians. Ranch School has helped them shape their character and compassion for years to come."

The Nitty Gritty

Ranch School is an educational program that provides equine supported experiential learning groups emphasizing life skills via ranch skills.  We maintain the core values of reciprocal equine-human partnership, contributing to a community, and putting the joy back into learning.  We believe that life on the ranch can be a model for how to live in a more grounded, authentic and connected way everywhere else and that the relational skills learned with horses can be carried outside the corral and applied to all relationships.

Our goals for offering this How to Training in Ranch School include supporting the elevation of the field that we have dedicated our lives to as well as making a contribution to the current cultural shift in the broader equestrian world of honoring horses as sentient beings with many gifts to offer us.  As horse people we know that 80% of the time we spend at the ranch has nothing to do with riding and yet there are so few opportunities for people to learn about horses that are not traditional riding programs.  In this curriculum we honor the horse as a revered partner and teacher with their own autonomy, agency and freedom of choice.

We, Jessica Pinto and Stephanie Holdenried, created this program and all of the materials and intellectual property involved, based on our many years of learning, growing, and working in the ever-evolving field of equine assisted therapy and learning.  We are lifelong horsewomen and have a combined experience of 25+ years in the field, having drawn on countless trainings, clinics, books, and both professional and personal learning experiences to build this program.

Webinar plus curriculum

In addition to the training you will receive our 10 week foundational curriculum complete with facilitator notes.  The lesson plans include a settling in exercise, activities with and without horses, list of materials, questions for participants and facilitation tips.  Packaged with the curriculum is a one hour consultation call with one of us (scheduled individually) to review each lesson plan, answer any questions you might have, and assist you in applying the curriculum to your unique site and business model.

"Stephanie and Jess have developed an excellent, turn-key program for connecting young people with horses. I am looking forward to implementing their curriculum this coming fall. Experiential learning, done outside in a natural setting with horses, will be a valuable offering to the young people in my county."
